BookMyShow has filed an FIR with the Mumbai Police against individuals involved in the black marketing of tickets for Coldplay’s highly anticipated “Music of the Spheres” concerts, scheduled for January 2025 at DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai. The online ticketing platform initiated the formal complaint on October 2, 2024, after receiving multiple reports of unauthorized ticket resales at inflated prices. The case was registered under sections 318(4) and 319(2) of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and section 66(C) of the Information Technology Act, which target offenses related to fraud and unauthorized use of personal information.

BookMyShow noted that they had explicitly warned buyers not to purchase tickets from third parties during the initial sale on September 22, 2024. Despite this, the company received several requests through email and WhatsApp, including messages from individuals who had already promised tickets to others and accepted payments. The FIR aims to curb the illegal resale of tickets on platforms such as Viagogo and Stubhub, as well as through social media channels.

The company is actively working to cancel any tickets sold unethically and continues to cooperate with authorities to identify all involved in these illegal sales.

“This action follows our initial complaint filed proactively with the Mumbai Police on September 23, 2024, addressing these concerns much before any formal complaint was raised against us. BookMyShow’s FIR filed with the Mumbai police also urges authorities to investigate the unauthorised resale of tickets by individuals and platforms,” the statement read.
