After Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) failed attempt to chase down a formidable target of 288 runs set by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), RCB skipper Faf Du Plessis commended his batters for their resilience but criticized the bowlers for allowing too many extra runs. The match concluded with RCB managing 262/7, falling short by 26 runs.
In the post-match presentation, Faf Du Plessis reflected on the team’s performance, stating, “Our batting effort was commendable on a true T20 wicket. We aimed to get close, but 280 was just too steep. Despite the challenge, we experimented with different strategies to bolster our chances. However, it’s evident that when confidence wanes, it’s tough to conceal. Our pacers particularly struggled today.”
He continued, “From the batting side, it was heartening to see the team not throw in the towel and fight till the end. Unfortunately, from a bowling standpoint, giving away thirty to forty extra runs did cost us dearly. Cricket is as much a mental game as it is about physical skill. It’s crucial now to clear our minds, rejuvenate, and return with total commitment to turn things around in the upcoming games.”
