October 17, 2024: K-pop star J-Hope, a member of the globally celebrated group BTS, was discharged from his mandatory military service on Thursday after completing an 18-month commitment.
He announced his return via his Instagram story, sparking excitement among fans and industry insiders who are hopeful for a potential reunion of the band.
At 30 years old, J-Hope is the second member of BTS to finish his military service, following the eldest member, Jin, who completed his duty in June. A viral video shared by the fan page BTS Charts Daily captured J-Hope in his military uniform and black beret, marking his transition back to civilian life.
J-Hope was warmly welcomed by Jin, about 100 eager fans, and a large group of reporters at the military base in Wonju, Gangwon province. Meanwhile, the remaining four BTS members began their military service in December 2023, with plans for the group to regroup in 2025 once all members have fulfilled their obligations.
Since their debut in 2013, BTS has achieved extraordinary success, selling over 56 million physical albums and singles while securing six No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200 chart. Fans are eagerly anticipating the next steps for the group as they reunite and continue their musical journey.
