$600 Wedding in Aspen For Jeff Bezos? This Is What He Says

The Amazon founder denies reports of a $600 million Aspen wedding, dismissing them as baseless speculation.

December 23, 2024: Jeff Bezos, the billionaire founder of Amazon, has firmly denied reports claiming that his wedding to fiancée Lauren Sanchez will cost $600 million. Bezos took to X (formerly Twitter) to address the rumors, calling them “completely false” and urging caution against believing everything read in the media.

The rumors, originating from outlets like the Daily Mail and the New York Post, suggested that Bezos and Sanchez were planning an extravagant Aspen wedding on December 28. Allegedly, the couple was prepared to spend over half a billion dollars on a winter wonderland-themed celebration, with a star-studded guest list that included Bill Gates, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Queen Rania of Jordan.

Bezos: “Don’t Believe Everything You Read”

Billionaire investor Bill Ackman was one of the first to question the validity of the $600 million wedding claim. “Unless you are buying each of your guests a house, you can’t spend this much money,” Ackman tweeted. Bezos responded directly to Ackman’s post, stating:

“Furthermore, this whole thing is completely false—none of this is happening. The adage ‘don’t believe everything you read’ is even more true today than ever before. Lies can get around the world before the truth can get its pants on. So be careful out there, folks, and don’t be gullible.”

Lauren Sanchez echoed Bezos’ sentiments on her Instagram stories, sharing his post with a simple caption: “Not true.”

Origins of the Rumour

The original reports detailed an elaborate plan to book Matsuhisa, a high-end sushi restaurant in Aspen, exclusively for the couple’s wedding festivities. The restaurant was reportedly set to host 180 guests, with events scheduled between December 26 and 27.

A Public Love Story

Bezos and Sanchez began dating in 2018 and went public with their relationship in 2019 following Bezos’ divorce from his ex-wife MacKenzie Scott. While their relationship has often been in the spotlight, Bezos’ firm denial of these wedding rumors makes it clear that not every headline deserves attention.
