
Airtel Partners with SpaceX to Launch Starlink Internet in India
March 11, 2025: In a landmark collaboration, Bharti Airtel has signed a deal with Elon Musk’s SpaceX to bring Starlink satellite internet services to India. This agreement—the first of its kind in India—is subject to SpaceX receiving regulatory authorization to sell Starlink services in the country.

According to Airtel’s official statement, the partnership aims to:
✅ Offer Starlink equipment in Airtel’s retail stores
✅ Expand Starlink services to business customers
✅ Provide connectivity to rural areas, including schools, health centers, and underserved communities
✅ Enhance Airtel’s existing network infrastructure by integrating Starlink technology
Airtel emphasized that this collaboration strengthens its commitment to nationwide digital connectivity, particularly in regions lacking reliable broadband coverage.

🔹 Gopal Vittal, Managing Director & Vice Chairman of Bharti Airtel, called the collaboration a “significant milestone”, stating:
“This partnership ensures high-speed broadband access to even the most remote parts of India, complementing Airtel’s suite of services.”
🔹 Gwynne Shotwell, President & COO of SpaceX, expressed excitement about working with Airtel:
“We are constantly amazed by the impact Starlink has on people and businesses worldwide. Working with Airtel allows us to expand connectivity across India.”
