Auto Workers for Trump Founder Brian Pannebecker Backs New Tariffs: “Great for American Workers”
Brian Pannebecker hails President Trump’s sweeping trade tariffs, predicting job growth and factory revivals in Detroit and beyond within six months.
Washington DC [US], April 3: Following U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement of sweeping global tariffs, Brian Pannebecker, founder of Auto Workers for Trump, voiced his enthusiastic support, calling the move a major win for American workers.
When asked if he supported Trump’s tariff measures, Pannebecker responded:
“Absolutely 100 per cent. It is going to be great for the American workers.”
Speaking earlier at the Make America Wealthy Again event, Pannebecker shared his personal connection to the manufacturing decline in Detroit:
“I grew up just north of Detroit, Michigan. I have watched plant after plant after plant in Detroit and in the metro Detroit area close, and President Trump’s policies are going to bring product back into those plants. There are gonna be new investments, there’s gonna be new plants built… We support President Trump’s tariff policies 100%. Within six months, we are gonna see the benefits.”
President Trump unveiled the new import tariffs on Wednesday (local time), detailing country-specific rates aimed at reducing the U.S. trade deficit and reviving American industry. Under the new structure:
India will face a 26% tariff
China: 34%
Vietnam: 46%
Taiwan: 32%
Japan: 24%
European Union: 20%
United Kingdom: 10%
Bangladesh: 37%
Pakistan: 29%
Sri Lanka: 44%
Israel: 17%
At the same event, Trump criticized trade imbalances and foreign tariff policies, especially in the automotive and motorcycle sectors.

“The United States charges other countries only a 2.4% tariff on motorcycles. Meanwhile, Thailand and others are charging much higher prices like 60%, India charges 70%, Vietnam charges 75%, and others are even higher than that.”
Trump also announced that, effective at midnight, a 25% tariff would be imposed on all foreign-made automobiles.
“Such horrendous imbalances have devastated our industrial base and put our national security at risk. I don’t blame these other countries at all for this calamity. I blame former presidents and past leaders who weren’t doing their job.”
