DPIIT’s Scrap Sale Drive Earns Over Rs 2,364 Crore for Government in 3 Years

New Delhi, November 11: Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) for their efficiency in generating over Rs 2,364 crore through the sale of scrap from government offices over the past three years. Launched as part of Special Campaign 4.0, this initiative has successfully combined economic prudence with cleanliness efforts, yielding substantial revenue while improving work environments across government offices.

Responding to Union Minister Jitendra Singh’s social media announcement on the campaign’s achievements, PM Modi remarked, “Commendable! By focusing on efficient management and proactive action, this effort has achieved outstanding results. It shows how collective efforts can drive sustainable outcomes, enhancing both cleanliness and economic value.”

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry recently announced that the DPIIT’s scrap sale drive freed up 15,847 square feet of valuable office space and generated Rs 16,39,452 through the disposal of obsolete materials. The campaign also tackled operational efficiency by eliminating physical files and addressing pending public grievances. A review of 58,545 physical files led to the disposal of 15,816, further contributing to the campaign’s success.

The DPIIT conducted 300 cleanliness drives at 70 locations nationwide as part of the campaign, creating a cleaner, more organized work environment for government employees and enhancing their daily experience. Each effort reflects DPIIT’s commitment to maintaining high standards of efficiency, cleanliness, and economic responsibility.

The DPIIT, established in 1995 and integrated with the Department of Industrial Development in 2000, is a key player in promoting India’s industrial growth in line with the nation’s socio-economic objectives. Through initiatives like Special Campaign 4.0, DPIIT continues to drive policies that blend productivity with sustainable practices, aligning with India’s vision for a clean and economically strong future.
