Gold Prices Today, May 6: Check Rates Across Indian Cities
Gold prices have climbed this week amid heightened global market uncertainty, driven by fluctuations in the US dollar and investor anxiety over upcoming policy announcements from the US Federal Reserve. The precious metal remains a safe-haven investment choice, especially with growing concerns around US-China trade negotiations and macroeconomic volatility.
Gold surged nearly 30% year-on-year, delivering a 15% CAGR since 2001, and continues to outperform inflation trends. Last month, prices briefly touched ₹1 lakh per 10 grams, before correcting slightly.
As of 8:20 AM on May 6, the MCX gold rate stood at ₹94,750 per 10 grams, down by ₹101. Silver also dipped slightly to ₹94,406 per kg. According to the Indian Bullion Association, 24-carat gold is priced at ₹95,060 per 10 grams, while 22-carat gold stands at ₹87,138. Silver 999 (fine grade) is retailing at ₹94,490/kg.
