📅 March 30, 2025 |
In a key move to support the struggling telecom major, the Government of India has announced that it will increase its stake in Vodafone Idea Ltd (Vi) to 48.99% by converting outstanding spectrum auction dues into equity.
📄 According to the company’s stock exchange filing on Sunday, this conversion is being undertaken by the Ministry of Communications under the provisions laid out to ease the financial burden on telecom companies.

📉 Vodafone Idea has been under mounting pressure due to its massive debt and market share losses. This move strengthens the government’s role as the largest shareholder, while promoters Aditya Birla Group and Vodafone Plc continue to hold reduced stakes.
