Mumbai, April 11 – Indian equity benchmarks Sensex and Nifty 50 are poised for a gap-up opening on Friday, as indicated by Gift Nifty’s strong trade, despite weak global cues including a steep Wall Street selloff, sharp losses in Asian markets, and ongoing anxiety around US-China trade tensions.

Gift Nifty was trading around 22,940, a premium of nearly 460 points over the previous Nifty close of 22,399.15, indicating a positive start for Indian indices.

US markets tumbled on Thursday:
Heavyweight tech stocks led the fall — Apple (–4.24%), Nvidia (–5.91%), Tesla (–7.27%), AMD, and CarMax (–17%).
President Donald Trump announced a 90-day pause on reciprocal tariffs for non-retaliatory countries, while raising tariffs on China to 145% — intensifying global trade fears.
Mirroring Wall Street’s plunge:
The Reserve Bank of India cut the repo rate by 25 bps to 6%, shifted its stance to ‘accommodative’, and revised FY26 GDP forecast to 6.5% (from 6.7%).
Gold prices surged, nearing an all-time high amid global uncertainty:
