Marking a dramatic escalation in the US-China trade standoff, China has released a provocative video message targeting US President Donald Trump’s aggressive tariff strategy. The video, issued by the Chinese Foreign Ministry, declares that China “will never kneel down” to what it calls America’s “economic bullying,” and urges other countries to unite against Washington’s protectionist policies.

As President Trump completed 100 days of his second term, the video—subtitled in both English and Mandarin for global reach—slammed the US for imposing massive tariffs, including duties of up to 145% on Chinese imports.

“The US has stirred up a global tariff storm and deliberately targeted China,” the video says. “Bowing to a bully is like drinking poison to quench thirst.”

The video accuses the US of a historical pattern of coercive economic behavior, citing examples like the forced dismantling of Japan’s semiconductor industry in the 1980s and the breakup of France’s Alstom. “History has proven that compromise won’t earn you mercy—kneeling only invites more bullying,” the message declares.

Portraying itself as a defender of free trade, China’s message adds, “When the rest of the world stands together in solidarity, the US is just a small stranded boat.”

The Trump administration, which paused the enforcement of new reciprocal tariffs for 90 days to allow trade negotiations, has hinted that levies on Chinese goods could reach up to 245% once the new round kicks in. In retaliation, Beijing has imposed tariffs as high as 125% on American products, vowing to “fight to the end.”

The message ends with a rallying cry: “Someone has to step forward, torch in hand, to shatter the fog and illuminate the path ahead.”
