June 27, 2025: The highly anticipated OnePlus Nord 5 is set to launch on July 8, 2025, following the OnePlus 13s. Succeeding last year’s Nord 4, the new device is bringing a host of upgrades aimed at outperforming competitors like Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo, and Realme in the crowded midrange segment. Notably, OnePlus has officially revealed a major enhancement in the camera department, addressing what has long been considered the Nord series’ weak point.

Camera Gets a Flagship Boost

OnePlus has confirmed that the Nord 5 will feature the 50MP Sony LYT-700 primary sensor, previously seen on the flagship OnePlus 13. This sensor also comes with Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS). Accompanying this is an 8MP ultrawide sensor, while the front will house a 50MP Samsung JN5 selfie camera, capable of recording 4K videos at 60fps—a rare feature at this price point.

Top-Tier Specs for a Midrange Phone

The Nord 5 will be powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset, paired with 8GB or 12GB LPDDR5X RAM, ensuring powerful performance. To maintain thermal efficiency, it includes a 7,300 sq. mm vapour chamber cooling system—a feature typically reserved for gaming phones.

The device sports a 6.83-inch AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. It will run on Android 15 with OxygenOS, and will likely be available in 256GB and 512GB storage variants.

Battery, Charging & Other Features

Backed by a 5,200mAh battery and 80W SuperVOOC fast charging, the Nord 5 promises long-lasting usage with minimal downtime. Additional features include IP65 water and dust resistance, an in-display fingerprint scanner, and stereo speakers.

Expected Price and Availability

In India, the OnePlus Nord 5 is expected to be priced between Rs 30,000 and Rs 35,000, making it one of the most competitive options in the performance-centric midrange category.
