SpiceJet to Restore 10 Aircraft by April 2025, Strengthening Fleet and Connectivity

Move Includes Four Boeing 737 MAX Planes, Supporting Network Expansion and Operational Growth

New Delhi, January 10: SpiceJet has announced plans to bring 10 grounded aircraft back into service by mid-April 2025, including four Boeing 737 MAX planes. This strategic move is expected to enhance the airline’s operational capabilities and expand its fleet, currently comprising 28 aircraft.

The airline has already added 10 planes to its fleet since October 2024, comprising three grounded aircraft restored to service and seven new planes inducted on lease. SpiceJet’s aggressive network expansion over the last three months has introduced over 60 new flights, boosting connectivity and service options for passengers.

CEO’s Statement on Fleet Growth

Ajay Singh, Chairman and Managing Director of SpiceJet, emphasized the airline’s recovery and growth focus:
“Our plan to bring 10 aircraft back into service by mid-April reflects SpiceJet’s unwavering commitment to its growth and operational excellence. We are on a strong path to recovery, committed to providing reliable and affordable air travel to millions of Indians.”

Partnerships Driving Recovery

Last month, SpiceJet signed an agreement with StandardAero Inc., a leading US-based engine MRO provider, to restore its grounded MAX fleet. This followed successful collaborations with CFM International, Inc., the OEM for LEAP-1B engines, and a major lessor, facilitating the return of three Boeing 737 MAX planes to service.

In the past two months, SpiceJet resolved disputes with key partners and lessors, including Export Development Canada, Engine Lease Finance Corporation, and Shannon Engine Support Limited, signaling its commitment to operational stability and long-term growth.

SpiceJet’s fleet expansion and restoration efforts are set to position the airline as a stronger player in the competitive Indian aviation sector, ensuring enhanced connectivity and reliability for passengers.
