Telegram Founder Pavel Durov Has 100 Children, Will Leave $20 Billion Fortune to Them

Pavel Durov includes over 100 donor-conceived children and his six biological kids in his will, set to inherit after 30 years

June 20, 2025 | Telegram founder and billionaire entrepreneur Pavel Durov has revealed that he plans to leave his $20 billion fortune to more than 100 children fathered via sperm donation, in addition to his six biological children. His will also outlines a 30-year inheritance lock to ensure the children grow up independent and self-reliant.

🧬 Pavel Durov’s Unorthodox Legacy Plan

In a candid interview with Le Point magazine, Pavel Durov disclosed his carefully crafted succession plan, which includes 100 children born in 12 countries through sperm donations he made over the past 15 years. The Russian-born tech visionary emphasized that these children, alongside his six biological kids from three partners, will equally inherit his wealth — but not immediately.

“I want my children to grow up without depending on inheritance. They’ll access their share only 30 years after my passing,” Durov explained.

Durov said the process began as a gesture to help a friend struggling with infertility. Over time, this led to him becoming a donor in fertility clinics across a dozen countries, resulting in over 100 children born through anonymous sperm donation.

“I treat all my children equally,” said Durov. “Whether born naturally or through donation, they’re all part of my legacy.”

🛡️ Security, Succession, and Telegram’s Future

When asked why he drafted his will at just 40, Durov cited the risks inherent in defending freedom of speech, including opposition from powerful state actors.

He also revealed that Telegram will eventually be handed over to a non-profit foundation, ensuring the messaging app remains independent, free, and secure for future generations.

⚖️ Facing Legal Heat, Defending Principles

Durov remains a controversial figure. In 2024, French authorities charged him over alleged illegal activities on Telegram, including drug trafficking and abuse content, which he firmly denies. His supporters argue these attacks are politically motivated due to his firm stand on privacy and free expression.
