Mumbai Secured, Delhi Next: Tesla Finalizes First Indian Showroom in BKC
Elon Musk-led Tesla has finalized a deal for its first-ever showroom in India, choosing Mumbai's upscale Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) as its launchpad into the Indian market. According to a Times of India report, the 4,000 sq ft showroom will be located on the ground floor of a commercial tower, making it a landmark presence for the EV giant.

Tesla is reportedly paying a hefty ₹900 per sq ft in rent, amounting to ₹35 lakh per month, making it one of the highest-rented commercial properties in India.
Second showroom planned for Delhi
Tesla is already working on its next showroom, set to open in Delhi's Aerocity, further solidifying its commitment to the Indian market.

Strategic Expansion Follows Elon Musk’s Meeting with PM Modi
This move comes just weeks after Musk met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to the US. Following the meeting, Tesla accelerated its India plans, even posting job listings for 13 positions in the country.

"We discussed various issues, including those he is passionate about—space, mobility, technology, and innovation. I talked about India’s efforts towards reform and furthering Minimum Government, Maximum Governance," PM Modi said after meeting Musk.
With Tesla’s India strategy taking shape, sources suggest that the company is exploring further expansion into other metro cities based on market demand.
Tesla India: Car Imports From Berlin & Pricing Plans
While Tesla has not yet confirmed local manufacturing in India, reports indicate that the company is considering importing its electric vehicles from Berlin.
Tesla’s potential pricing in India:
- Tesla aims to bring an EV to India under $25,000 (approx. ₹20.4 lakh)
- Tesla’s most affordable model in the US, the Model 3, starts at $35,000 (₹30.4 lakh)
- Local assembly or manufacturing in India remains uncertain at this stage
Tesla already sources over a billion dollars worth of components from India annually, and this figure is expected to rise significantly in the coming months.
