What The Walton Family Owns:

After Sam Walton’s death in 1992, his eldest son Rob Walton took over as Walmart’s chairman, a role he held until 2015. Rob, whose personal net worth is estimated at $113.3 billion, also made headlines in 2022 when he, along with his daughter and son-in-law, bought the Denver Broncos NFL team for $4.7 billion. His son-in-law Greg Penner currently chairs Walmart’s board.

Sports ownership runs deep in the family. Stan Kroenke, husband of Bud Walton’s daughter Ann, owns a sporting empire including the Denver Nuggets (NBA), Arsenal Football Club (EPL), Colorado Avalanche (NHL), and Colorado Rapids (MLS), among others. Kroenke himself once served on Walmart’s board between 1996 and 2001.

Alice Walton, with an estimated wealth of $113 billion, is the world’s richest woman. Unlike her brothers, Alice has channeled her fortune into the world of art and philanthropy, founding the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, Arkansas.

Jim Walton, the youngest of Sam’s children, chairs the family-owned Arvest Bank Group and commands a personal fortune of $112.1 billion. His daughter Alice Proietti chairs the Walton Family Foundation, continuing the family’s philanthropic legacy.

From retail to sports, banking, and the arts, the Waltons’ portfolio reflects a diverse and dominant influence across sectors — reinforcing their place at the very top of global wealth rankings.
