
Over 3,000 complaints surface on Downdetector as users face issues with UPI payments on Google Pay, Paytm, and other apps.

A major glitch in UPI (Unified Payments Interface) systems disrupted payment services for thousands of users across India on Wednesday evening. Starting around 6 PM, users began reporting failed transactions on platforms like Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, and other UPI-enabled apps.

According to Downdetector, a service that monitors online outages, over 3,000 complaints related to UPI failures were logged within a short span. The issues range from payment delays, transaction failures, to money debited but not credited errors.
Social media platforms were flooded with complaints and memes, with many users expressing frustration over the sudden breakdown during peak evening hours when digital payments are most used.

Authorities or the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) have not yet issued an official statement on the disruption or its cause.
This is the second major glitch in UPI services this month, raising concerns about the reliability of real-time digital payments that millions of Indians depend on for daily transactions.
