Waves Film Bazaar 2025 Opens Submissions for Co-Production Market in Goa

South Asia’s biggest film market returns with its 19th edition, offering filmmakers global collaborations, funding opportunities, and industry exposure alongside IFFI in Goa.

Mumbai, August 31: South Asia’s largest film market, Waves Film Bazaar, has officially opened submissions for its highly anticipated Co-Production Market at the 19th edition, scheduled to be held from November 20–24, 2025, at the Marriott Resort in Goa.

Running alongside the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Waves Film Bazaar has become a cornerstone in India’s global film outreach strategy. Rebranded last year to reflect a broader vision, the platform positions India not just as a cinematic powerhouse but also as a global hub for content, creativity, and co-productions.

Over the years, the event has earned its reputation as a meeting ground for filmmakers, producers, distributors, and financiers from across the world. The previous edition welcomed more than 1,800 participants from over 40 countries, making it a truly international platform for collaboration.

At the heart of the event lies the Co-Production Market, a flagship initiative launched in 2007. This platform invites submissions of Feature films and Documentary projects, offering a curated space where filmmakers can secure both artistic mentorship and financial support. Many acclaimed films — including The Lunchbox, Newton, Dum Laga Ke Haisha, Schirkoa: In Lies We Trust, Girls Will Be Girls, and In the Belly of a Tiger — found early support here, underlining its profound impact on global cinema.

In addition, Waves Film Bazaar introduced a cash grant initiative in 2024, designed to bridge the gap between creative vision and production. Last year, Kurinji (The Disappearing Flower) directed by Payal Sethi took home the top prize, while Kothiyan – Fishers of Men by Sanju Surendran and All Ten Heads of Ravana by Pranjal Dua also received prestigious recognition.

📅 Submission Deadlines:

  • Feature Films: September 7, 2025
  • Documentaries: September 13, 2025

Selected filmmakers will gain access to producers, distributors, international sales agents, and financiers, paving the way for future collaborations and co-production deals.

Beyond the Co-Production Market, the event also offers Market Screenings, a Viewing Room with over 200 unseen South Asian films, Work-In-Progress Labs, Producer’s Workshops, Knowledge Series, Country Pavilions, and Market Stalls. Together, these initiatives reaffirm Waves Film Bazaar’s mission to nurture talent, build industry dialogue, and elevate South Asian cinema on the world stage.
