No trading in equity, derivatives, or currency segments today as Dalal Street marks Maharashtra Day; normal operations resume on Friday, May 2.

Mumbai, May 1:
The Indian stock market is closed today, Thursday, May 1, 2025, in observance of Maharashtra Day, which commemorates the formation of the state of Maharashtra. As Mumbai is home to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), the National Stock Exchange (NSE), and the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), all major trading activities are suspended for the day.

According to the BSE trading holiday list for 2025, operations in the Equity Segment, Equity Derivatives Segment, and SLB Segment are shut. Additionally, trading in the Currency Derivatives Segment, NDS-RST, and Tri-Party Repo segments is also paused.

On the Commodity Derivatives Segment and Electronic Gold Receipts (EGR) platform, there will be no trading during the morning session (9:00 AM to 5:00 PM). However, evening trading will resume from 5:00 PM.

This is the only stock market holiday in May 2025. Investors can check the full list of trading holidays on the BSE website under the ‘Trading Holidays’ section or on the official NSE site.

The next stock market holiday falls on August 15, 2025 (Independence Day), followed by Ganesh Chaturthi on August 27. October has three holidays, while November and December have one each.
