Cardi B Sued For Assault And Battery Over Mic-Throwing Incident At Las Vegas
July 24, 2025: A complaint against American singer Cardi B claims she assaulted, battered, neglected, and caused emotional distress when she tossed a microphone into the crowd during a 2023 concert at a beach club in Las Vegas. A lady named Jane Doe has filed the case, saying that she was hurt in the incident.
The fight happened in July 2023, during a hot outdoor show. People who saw the viral video from the day party thought Cardi B was requesting fans to sprinkle water on her to cool off. Jane Doe states in the lawsuit that she did what the rapper asked and lightly splashed her drink toward him. She says that several other people in the audience did the same thing. Doe, on the other hand, says that Cardi B’s response was “sudden and violent.”
“Plaintiff, acting in accordance with the environment created by Cardi B’s express words and conduct, and in a manner consistent with other attendees, splashed a small portion of her drink in Cardi B’s direction,” her lawyers wrote in the lawsuit filed on Monday. “Cardi B suddenly and forcefully threw her microphone at the plaintiff without warning, as if she were angry.”
The complaint says that the microphone hit the woman, hurting her physically and giving her a lot of mental pain. Jane Doe says that when the event went viral, she was harassed online and embarrassed in person. Her distress grew when the microphone was eventually sold online for $99,000.
The Las Vegas beach club is also being sued, and the lawsuit says the club was negligent because it didn’t take reasonable steps to protect people or step in when things got out of hand. Doe’s lawyers also say that security should have known about Cardi B’s “volatile behavior” because they say the rapper threw a mic at a DJ at the same place the night before.
Jane Doe remarked in a public statement, “What many people have called a joke is actually a traumatic event that has had a big effect on my health and quality of life.” I’m looking for justice so that Cardi B will have to pay for what she did wrong. No celebrity is above the law. Today, Cierra N. Norris, her lawyer, is slated to conduct a press conference in Las Vegas. Doe has opted to stay anonymous because of ongoing mental health problems caused by the incident and worries about how the public would react.
Cardi B’s lawyers, on the other hand, are throwing out the complaint. Drew Findling, her lawyer, termed the lawsuit a “transparent and pitiful attempted financial shakedown.” Findling said, “A long time ago, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and the Clark County District Attorney’s Office closed this case because there wasn’t enough evidence. But it seems that some law firm was too eager to make money off of a celebrity to pass up the chance.”
