December 4, 2024: Bollywood actor Nargis Fakhri, known for her role in Rockstar, has reportedly not been in contact with her younger sister, Aliya Fakhri, for over two decades. Aliya was recently arrested in New York on charges of murder and arson following a tragic incident in Queens.
According to sources, Nargis has yet to issue an official statement regarding the case. Their mother, however, has defended Aliya, stating, “I don’t think she would kill someone. She was always caring and tried to help everyone.”
The horrifying event unfolded on Monday when Aliya Fakhri allegedly set fire to a two-storey garage where her ex-boyfriend, Edward Jacobs (35), and his friend, Anastasia Ettienne, were asleep. Witnesses claim Aliya yelled, “You’re all going to die today,” before igniting the fire. Both victims tragically succumbed to smoke inhalation and thermal injuries after being trapped inside the burning building.
Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz announced that Aliya Fakhri faces multiple charges, including four counts of first-degree murder and four counts of second-degree murder, as well as arson. If convicted, she could receive a life sentence.
Jacobs’ mother, Janet, revealed that her son had ended his relationship with Aliya about a year ago. A witness stated that the relationship was abusive and alleged that Aliya had previously threatened to burn Jacobs’ home. The garage, where the tragic incident occurred, was being converted into a residential apartment by Jacobs.
Aliya is currently in police custody and is scheduled to appear in court on December 9.
District Attorney Katz condemned the act, stating, “This defendant maliciously ended the lives of two people by setting a fire that trapped them in a raging inferno.”
This case has sent shockwaves through the community, with investigators piecing together the details of this tragic event. Nargis Fakhri’s association with her sister has drawn media attention, but the Bollywood star appears to have kept her distance for years.
