January 14, 2025: Acclaimed British author Neil Gaiman, known for his works Good Omens, American Gods, and The Sandman, faces new allegations of sexual misconduct and assault. A report in New York Magazine titled "There Is No Safe Word" includes accusations from eight women, including a nanny who worked for Gaiman and his second wife, Amanda Palmer.

The nanny alleged that Gaiman sexually assaulted her in February 2022 in a backyard bathtub in New Zealand. She also accused him of inappropriate behavior in a hotel room, where she claimed he assaulted her under the blankets while his son played nearby.
The report alleges that most of Gaiman's victims were in their 20s, with the youngest being 18 at the time. Gaiman was in his 40s or older during these alleged incidents. The accusations follow similar claims made by five women in a 2024 podcast series titled Master by Tortoise Media.
JK Rowling Compares Allegations to Weinstein
Fellow author JK Rowling weighed in on the allegations, drawing comparisons to the cases against disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein. Rowling criticized the literary community for its silence, writing on X, "The literary crowd that had a hell of a lot to say about Harvey Weinstein before he was convicted has been strangely muted in its response to multiple accusations against Neil Gaiman."
Weinstein was convicted of sexually assaulting Miriam Haley in 2006 and raping Jessica Mann in 2013. He is serving 23 years for the New York case and an additional 16 years for a separate California case.
The allegations against Gaiman have sparked a significant public outcry, drawing attention to power dynamics and abuse within the literary world.
