November 9, 2024 : The makers of Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale have unveiled the much-anticipated trailer for the documentary, which will be available for streaming on Netflix starting November 18.
The trailer offers an inside look at the life of one of India’s most iconic actresses, Nayanthara, highlighting her remarkable journey from humble beginnings to becoming a “lady superstar” in Indian cinema.
The documentary features a series of personal anecdotes from Nayanthara’s close friends and colleagues, including actors Rana Daggubati, Taapsee Pannu, and Nagarjuna Akkineni, along with insights from her family and her husband, filmmaker Vignesh Shivan. The trailer also gives glimpses of the controversies Nayanthara faced over the years, detailing how she navigated challenges in her personal and professional life to achieve her success.
One key moment shared in the trailer comes from Nagarjuna, who reflects on the troubled relationships Nayanthara had in her early years. It also touches upon her career growth, with footage showcasing her rise in the industry and her celebrated wedding to Vignesh Shivan in 2022. The wedding, which was a private yet star-studded affair, saw guests like Shah Rukh Khan, Mani Ratnam, AR Rahman, and others in attendance.
Originally thought to be a wedding film, Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale evolved into a full-fledged documentary about Nayanthara’s illustrious career and her personal life. The teaser, which was first revealed at Netflix’s Tudum Global Fan Event, offered a sneak peek into the lavish preparations for her wedding, but now the documentary promises to delve deeper into her journey as an actress and as a woman.
The couple, Nayanthara and Vignesh, also made headlines in 2022 when they welcomed twin sons via surrogacy, and Vignesh Shivan shared the touching moment on Instagram, where he posted pictures of the newborns, named Uyir and Ulagam.
