Actor Chris Hemsworth, known for his blockbuster performances on screen, recently showcased another impressive talent—playing the drums. During Ed Sheeran’s concert at Romania’s National Arena in Bucharest, Hemsworth took to the stage and played drums in front of an estimated 70,000 fans, according to Variety.
Hemsworth was in Romania to film an episode for the upcoming second season of his series, Limitless With Chris Hemsworth, set to premiere in 2025. The show explores a range of universal challenges such as pain, fear, cognitive impairment, and social connection. Guided by experts and spiritual leaders, Hemsworth embarks on a global journey to uncover scientific insights and secrets to living a better life.
Ed Sheeran, who is currently on his +-=/x Tour (also known as The Mathematics Tour), shared the exciting collaboration on Instagram. “Got [Chris Hemsworth] to learn to play drums for my stadium show,” Sheeran captioned a post after the concert.
Hemsworth joined Sheeran on stage to perform the drum part for “Thinking Out Loud.” Sheeran revealed that Hemsworth had reached out to him in December about incorporating the benefits of learning an instrument into his documentary on cognitive health.
“Basically what’s happening is Chris emailed me last December saying he’s doing a documentary on cognitive health and the benefits of learning an instrument,” Sheeran explained in a video shared on Instagram. “And he came to visit me, and he has learned drums and he’s coming on stage in front of 70,000 [people].”
Hemsworth, reflecting on the experience, added, “I’ve been thinking about it a lot. It’ll be nice to put this to bed.”
Sheeran’s tour will continue with upcoming shows in Bulgaria, Cyprus, and Brazil in 2024, with additional international dates scheduled throughout the year.
