CM of West Bengal Mamta Banerjee recalls Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan at the 29th KIFF

Superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan were overlooked during the 29th Kolkata International Film Festival’s opening ceremony, but West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee paid tribute to them anyway. The absence of both stars was felt this year, Banerjee remarked, as the event got underway on December 5. She revealed that although SRK is preoccupied with her daughter’s movie marketing, Big B was unable to attend because to health issues. She also highlighted the close relationship that exists between Bollywood and Tollywood, emphasizing the affection and camaraderie that these two sectors enjoy.

Superstar Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor, Mahesh Bhatt, Sourav Ganguly, Shatrughan Sinha, Sonakshi Sinha, and Mahesh Bhatt attended the film festival’s opening ceremony on Tuesday at the Netaji Indoor Stadium in the City of Joy. The current edition, which features 219 films from 39 nations on display at 23 locations throughout Kolkata, is scheduled to run until December 12. Fifty are documentaries and short films, while seventy-two are feature films. A group of artists gave a unique performance to kick off the celebration on Tuesday. The visitors, who were dancing to the festival’s theme song with Mamata Banerjee, too did not miss an opportunity to captivate the crowd. Salman captivated everyone’s attention with his Dabangg hook step, as always.

Anil Kapoor gave a speech during the event and stated, “Kolkata is more than simply a city to me. It’s a visceral encounter. A voyage and a hoard of memories that have influenced my profession and my passion for movies.” He also recalled the well-known Satyajit Ray picture Nayak (1966), which starred Uttam. “Uttam Kumar is a mahanayak,” Anil informed me. The inaugural Kolkata Film Festival took place in 1995. However, the public was able to access it in 2011.
