“Corruption in Congress DNA”: BJP’s Gaurav Bhatia throws counter-punch at Rahul after Adani claim

New Delhi [India]: Hurling back the corruption charge at the Congress and Rahul Gandhi, after the latter on Wednesday levelled fresh allegations against the Adani Group citing a report in the UK daily Financial Times, BJP spokesperson questioned his silence in the National Herald case.

Labelling the Gandhi family as the most corrupt in the world, Bhatia said corruption was in the Congress’s DNA.

Addressing a press conference in the national capital on Wednesday, Bhatia said, “The Gandhi family is the most corrupt family in the world. Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi are both out on bail in a corruption case.

He (Rahul Gandhi) won’t speak on the National Herald scam and corruption by Robert Vadra. Corruption is in the DNA of the Congress. The Congress is facing decimation in all five states that are going to elections.”

Earlier, on Wednesday, Rahul attacked the Adani Group on the coal pricing issue saying that a theft of public money and resources was being carried out with the help of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Citing an article in the Financial Times, the Congress MP said, “After a report published in Financial Times, London, we know now that the Adani Group committed another fraud of Rs 12,000 crore.

So now, the corruption by the Adani Group is worth Rs 32,000 crore. They over-invoice their coal imports, and when the coal enters India, its price changes leading to a surge in electricity prices. These Rs 12,000 crores were looted from the pockets of the common people.”

“This could not have happened without the active indulgence and support of the Prime Minister. Adani buys coal in Indonesia, and by the time it arrives in India, its price doubles. Our electricity prices are going up,” Rahul alleged.

Hitting back, Bhatia alleged that the Congress has a habit of looting public money and the BJP will put a stop to it by defeating them in all five poll-bound states.

“Looting public money and using it for the benefit of the Gandhi family is the birthright of corrupt Congress leaders. However, it is the BJP’s responsibility to prick their inflated pride and arrogance in the upcoming Assembly elections,” he said.

The polls in Mizoram will be held on November 7 while those in Chhattisgarh will be held in two phases — on November 7 and 17, and Madhya Pradesh on November 17.

Rajasthan will go to polls on November 25 and Telangana on November 30.
The counting of votes in all five states is scheduled for December 3.
