“Could Have Done Much Better..”, Says Sanju Samson Following His Match-Winning Century Against Bangladesh

October 13, 2024: Sanju Samson’s remarkable performance in the third T20I against Bangladesh was a defining moment, as his match-winning century (111 off 47 balls) not only demonstrated his batting prowess but also his ability to handle pressure.

Following his explosive innings, Samson acknowledged in the post-match presentation that he knew how to deal with the pressure and felt a deep desire to perform, especially after receiving consistent support from the team management despite recent struggles, including two ducks in the previous series. Samson’s ability to refocus and stick to his basics underlined his maturity as a player.

In the match, Samson and skipper Suryakumar Yadav put together a stunning 173-run partnership, which propelled India to an extraordinary total of 297/6, their highest ever in T20I cricket. Samson’s blistering century, filled with 11 fours and eight sixes, along with Yadav’s rapid 75 (35 balls), provided the backbone for India’s innings. Cameos from Riyan Parag (34 off 14) and Hardik Pandya (47 off 18) further compounded Bangladesh’s woes.

Bangladesh, unable to handle the massive target, managed only 164/7, with Towhid Hridoy (63*) and Litton Das (42) providing some resistance. India’s bowlers, particularly Ravi Bishnoi (3/30) and Mayank Yadav (2/32), ensured that the victory margin of 133 runs remained emphatic.

India’s series victory (3-0) was capped off with Hardik Pandya being named the Player of the Series, highlighting India’s dominance across all three matches.

Samson’s century and his reflection on overcoming pressure will no doubt boost his confidence and solidify his place as a key player for India in future matches.
