Daniel Craig and Drew Starkey’s Queer Trailer Released

Los Angeles [US], October 29, 2024: The much-awaited trailer for Queer, starring Daniel Craig and Drew Starkey, was released on Tuesday, offering audiences a glimpse into the gritty world of 1940s Mexico City. Directed by Luca Guadagnino, Queer is an adaptation of William Burroughs’ semi-autobiographical novel, capturing themes of isolation, addiction, and unrequited desire.

According to Variety, Queer follows the story of William Lee (played by Craig), an American expatriate leading a solitary existence among a cast of bar owners and college students in Mexico City. The plot deepens as Lee becomes infatuated with Eugene Allerton (Starkey), a discharged Navy serviceman and drug user who, after initial indifference, eventually grows close to Lee. Jason Schwartzman, Lesley Manville, and Omar Apollo join the cast, adding depth to the film’s complex narrative.

Queer premiered at the Venice International Film Festival, competing for the prestigious Golden Lion. The film then went on to screen at the Toronto International Film Festival and the New York Film Festival, gaining acclaim for its bold storytelling and visual style. Set for a November 27 release, Queer is already being praised as a significant contribution to LGBTQ cinema.

With Guadagnino at the helm, Queer promises to deliver a powerful portrayal of complex relationships, isolation, and longing in a post-war setting, making it one of the most anticipated films this fall.
