Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India]: The daughters of Jammu and Kashmir are demonstrating their brilliance across various sectors despite the challenges, proving their mettle and pushing boundaries according to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
Praising the prominent role women scientists played in leading the Chandrayaan-3 mission, LG Sinha said, “Their triumphs serve as a beacon of inspiration for others to follow, underscoring the power of determination and perseverance”.
“The daughters of J&K are demonstrating their brilliance across various sectors despite the challenges. Whether in agriculture, industries, IT, startups, or the arena of sports, they are proving their mettle and pushing boundaries,” Sinha said after attending the final match of the Kashmir Women’s Cricket League in Srinagar.
A total of 12 women’s cricket teams, representing various corners of the Kashmir Division, participated in the tournament, organized under the aegis of Chinar Corps.
Former captain of the Indian Women’s Cricket team, Padma Shri Mithali Raj also attended the match.
In his address, Lt Governor Manoj Sinha extended his heartfelt congratulations to all participants and the triumphant teams of the Women’s Cricket League.
He applauded the Chinar Corps’ commendable initiative, a platform aimed at not just nurturing the spirit of women in sports but also empowering them to attain sporting eminence. “Through such efforts, the intention is to foster a robust sports culture among girls residing in the remote corners of the region”.
He highlighted the government’s earnest commitment to offering unwavering support to women in various sectors, emphasizing that women-led development stands as a paramount priority. “The administration’s socio-economic development policy rests on the bedrock of gender equality, ensuring that women are provided equal opportunities across all domains”.
Turning his attention to sports, Lt Governor Sinha reiterated the administration’s dedication to cultivating world-class sports infrastructure and mentoring the budding talents of Jammu and Kashmir.
“With the recent successes of women athletes in national and international events, a newfound sports culture is taking root within the region, signalling a bright future for sports enthusiasts”.
The event saw the presence of distinguished figures such as Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai, GOC 15 Corps, and Brig Anil Gupta, a member of the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association, along with a gathering of sports enthusiasts and youth.
