David Warner Turns 38! Take A Stroll At Legend’s Accomplishments

October 27, 2024: Australian batting icon David Warner celebrated his 38th birthday on Sunday, marking an illustrious career as one of the greatest top-order batsmen of the modern era. Warner burst onto the international scene in January 2009, scoring 89 runs in just 43 balls against South Africa, including a memorable assault on the legendary Dale Steyn.

Warner has displayed versatility across formats, thriving as a T20 specialist, a gritty Test opener, and a dynamic ODI star. Notably, he made history as the first Australian to play international cricket without any first-class experience in 132 years.

In his Test career, Warner has amassed 8,786 runs in 112 matches at an average of 44.59, including 26 centuries and 37 fifties. His highest score of 335* makes him the fifth-highest run-scorer for Australia in Tests.

In ODIs, Warner has scored 6,932 runs in 161 matches at an average of 45.30, boasting a strike rate of over 97, with 22 centuries. His best ODI score is 179, placing him sixth among Australia’s ODI run-getters.

Warner is also Australia’s leading run-scorer in T20Is, with 3,277 runs in 110 matches at an average of 33.43 and a strike rate of 142.47, including a century and 28 fifties.

Overall, he has scored 18,995 runs in 383 international matches, with 49 centuries and 98 fifties, retiring as Australia’s second-highest run-getter. His accolades include two ICC Cricket World Cup titles (2015 and 2023), an ICC T20 World Cup title (2021), and the ICC World Test Championship title (2023). Warner is also the sixth-highest run-scorer in World Cup history, with 1,527 runs at an average of 56.55.

In the Indian Premier League (IPL), Warner continues to shine as a key player, notably with Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals. He ranks as the fourth-highest run-scorer in league history and the top overseas player, with 6,565 runs at an average of 40.52. Warner led SRH to an IPL title in 2016 and has won the Orange Cap three times, a record feat.
