“Digvijaya Singh gives statements deliberately to weaken Congress,” says Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma

Khandwa (Madhya Pradesh) [India] : Chief Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma has taken a potshot at former CM of Madhya Pradesh Digvijaya Singh saying he (Singh) gives statements deliberately to weaken the Congress party.

Sarma made the remark in Madhya Pradesh’s Khandwa district on Thursday in view of Singh’s remark against Prime Minister Narendra Modi calling him “No.1 liar”.

“Digvijaya Singh gives statements against Hindus, in favour of PFI and against NIA (National Investigation Agency). I do not understand why he does this. Congress party itself faces loss from Singh’s statement. PM Modi is a popular leader in Madhya Pradesh and people of all communities like and respect PM Modi,” Sarma said.

He further said that Singh deliberately gave those statements to weaken the Congress party and he did not see any other reason.

“Digvijaya Singh gives all these statements deliberately to weaken the Congress party and I do not see any other reason. PM Modi loves everyone in the country, be it OBC or ST, and everyone loves him. All the statements of Digvijaya Singh are against former CM Kamal Nath and against Congress itself,” he added.

Earlier, reacting to PM Modi’s statement that Congress had cheated the OBCs Digvijaya Singh on Wednesday said, “He (PM Modi) is a no. 1 liar. Out of four CMs of Congress, three are OBC.”

Meanwhile, speaking about the forthcoming state assembly polls, the Assam CM said, “We will easily win around 150 seats (in the elections).”

Earlier on Wednesday Congress General secretary had taken a dig at the BJP led government at the centre for allegedly usurping power in Madhya Pradesh in 2018.

” In 2018 some double-faced people kidnapped the government voted in by the peopl of Madhya Pradesh. The country was struggling to combat the COVID Pandemic but the health minister was sitting in a hotel in Bengaluru and buying off MLAs to usurp our government. They were negotiating the price of the peoples mandate. This Diwali make this a Congress Diwali.”

Madhya Pradesh is one of the five states set to undergo polls in one phase on November 17 and the counting of votes will take place on December 3. Voters will choose legislators from 230 Assembly constituencies.
