October 10,2024: Singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh paused his Germany concert midway to pay a heartfelt tribute to veteran industrialist and philanthropist Ratan Tata, who passed away on Wednesday night at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai.
The emotional tribute, delivered in Punjabi, has gone viral on social media, with fans applauding Diljit’s deep respect for Tata’s legacy.
During his concert, Diljit acknowledged Ratan Tata’s immense contributions, saying, “You all know Ratan Tata. He passed away and this is my small tribute to him. I felt it necessary to take his name today because all his life, he worked hard. Whatever I have heard and read of him, I never saw him speak anything wrong about anyone.” He further added, “He always worked hard, did good work, and helped people. This is life, this is how one should be. If there is one thing we can learn from his life, it is that we should work hard, think positive, be helpful, and live life to its fullest.”
Diljit later shared a post on his Instagram story, writing “RIP Ratan Tata,” as a mark of respect.
Ratan Tata, one of India’s most respected and beloved industrialists, played a pivotal role in expanding the Tata Group and left a lasting impact through his philanthropic initiatives. Born in 1937, he chaired Tata Sons and Tata Trusts and was honored with the Padma Vibhushan in 2008 for his contributions to Indian industry and society.
Preparations have been made at NCPA Lawns, Nariman Point, Mumbai, for the public to pay their last respects to Ratan Tata, with his mortal remains being available from 10:30 am Thursday. The final rites will be held at the Worli Crematorium later in the day, with police cordoning off parts of Marine Drive to facilitate the proceedings.
