🎬 Saturday Box Office Report: Sitaare Zameen Par Surges, Kuberaa Steady, Housefull 5 Slows Down
June 23, 2025 | New Delhi
The Indian box office witnessed an exciting Saturday with Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par gaining momentum, Dhanush’s Kuberaa maintaining its hold, and Akshay Kumar’s Housefull 5 showing only marginal gains despite a significant head start. Meanwhile, Hollywood release How to Train Your Dragon saw a sharp dip in performance.
After a lukewarm opening, Aamir Khan’s latest offering Sitaare Zameen Par gained strong traction on Saturday, collecting a solid ₹21.50 crore. With ₹10.7 crore on Day 1, the film’s total now stands at ₹32.20 crore in just two days.
Backed by glowing reviews and audience appreciation, the emotional drama directed by RS Prasanna has resonated well, marking a potential comeback for Aamir Khan post-Laal Singh Chaddha.

The South Indian political thriller Kuberaa, starring Dhanush, Rashmika Mandanna, Nagarjuna Akkineni, and Jim Sarbh, continues its impressive run. On Saturday, it earned ₹16 crore, following its ₹14.75 crore Day 1 performance. With a two-day total of ₹30.75 crore, the film is on track to become one of Dhanush’s highest openers.
Directed by Sekhar Kammula, Kuberaa has been praised for its performances and gripping storyline, especially Dhanush’s powerful act.
The fifth installment in the comedy franchise saw a slight weekend boost, earning ₹2.25 crore on Saturday, taking its total to ₹172.35 crore. However, with an estimated budget of ₹225 crore, Housefull 5 still has a steep hill to climb to reach profitability.
Despite featuring an ensemble cast led by Akshay Kumar, the film’s reception has been mixed, with fatigue around the formulaic franchise possibly affecting footfall.
DreamWorks’ animated saga How to Train Your Dragon saw a dip in its Indian box office momentum. The film has earned ₹18.67 crore till Saturday. On that day, the Hindi version collected just ₹17 lakh, while the English version brought in ₹1.44 crore. With buzz around local releases stronger, the film is struggling to sustain traction.
As of now, Sitaare Zameen Par and Kuberaa have taken centre stage at the Indian box office, reflecting the growing audience appetite for emotional storytelling and meaningful cinema. While Housefull 5 faces an uphill battle to recover costs, and How to Train Your Dragon finds limited success, it’s clear that content continues to drive box office outcomes in 2025.
