đŹ Saturday Box Office Report: Sitaare Zameen Par Surges, Kuberaa Steady, Housefull 5 Slows Down
June 23, 2025 | New Delhi
The Indian box office witnessed an exciting Saturday with Aamir Khanâs Sitaare Zameen Par gaining momentum, Dhanushâs Kuberaa maintaining its hold, and Akshay Kumarâs Housefull 5 showing only marginal gains despite a significant head start. Meanwhile, Hollywood release How to Train Your Dragon saw a sharp dip in performance.
After a lukewarm opening, Aamir Khanâs latest offering Sitaare Zameen Par gained strong traction on Saturday, collecting a solid âč21.50 crore. With âč10.7 crore on Day 1, the filmâs total now stands at âč32.20 crore in just two days.
Backed by glowing reviews and audience appreciation, the emotional drama directed by RS Prasanna has resonated well, marking a potential comeback for Aamir Khan post-Laal Singh Chaddha.

The South Indian political thriller Kuberaa, starring Dhanush, Rashmika Mandanna, Nagarjuna Akkineni, and Jim Sarbh, continues its impressive run. On Saturday, it earned âč16 crore, following its âč14.75 crore Day 1 performance. With a two-day total of âč30.75 crore, the film is on track to become one of Dhanushâs highest openers.
Directed by Sekhar Kammula, Kuberaa has been praised for its performances and gripping storyline, especially Dhanushâs powerful act.
The fifth installment in the comedy franchise saw a slight weekend boost, earning âč2.25 crore on Saturday, taking its total to âč172.35 crore. However, with an estimated budget of âč225 crore, Housefull 5 still has a steep hill to climb to reach profitability.
Despite featuring an ensemble cast led by Akshay Kumar, the filmâs reception has been mixed, with fatigue around the formulaic franchise possibly affecting footfall.
DreamWorksâ animated saga How to Train Your Dragon saw a dip in its Indian box office momentum. The film has earned âč18.67 crore till Saturday. On that day, the Hindi version collected just âč17 lakh, while the English version brought in âč1.44 crore. With buzz around local releases stronger, the film is struggling to sustain traction.
As of now, Sitaare Zameen Par and Kuberaa have taken centre stage at the Indian box office, reflecting the growing audience appetite for emotional storytelling and meaningful cinema. While Housefull 5 faces an uphill battle to recover costs, and How to Train Your Dragon finds limited success, itâs clear that content continues to drive box office outcomes in 2025.
