🦖 ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’ Roars to $25M Thursday, Eyes $138M U.S. Opening Weekend
July-5, 2025: Jurassic World Rebirth is making a ferocious return to the big screen, stomping its way to $25.3 million on Thursday after a $30.5 million Wednesday debut, positioning itself for a massive $137–138 million five-day domestic opening. That includes a projected $82 million for the core Friday–Sunday frame, despite earning a lukewarm B CinemaScore.
Opening midweek to leverage the extended Fourth of July holiday corridor, the film has surged past early domestic projections of $100–$120 million — a promising sign for Universal and Amblin Entertainment as they reboot the Jurassic franchise for a new generation.
Jurassic World Rebirth marks the seventh film in the Jurassic franchise and introduces an all-new cast, including Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey, and Luna Blaise. Directed by Gareth Edwards (Rogue One) and penned by David Koepp, the original Jurassic Park screenwriter, the story follows an extraction team on a high-stakes mission to a remote island research facility — now overrun with the deadliest prehistoric creatures.

With a lower production budget ($180M) than its predecessors, Rebirth is banking on strong word-of-mouth and international performance. The film has also launched in nearly every major overseas market, with a global debut expected to top $260 million.
Though Rebirth’s domestic start will land below previous Jurassic World entries — including the 2015 opener’s $208.8M debut — its tighter budget and global strategy position it well. For context:

The original Jurassic Park (1993), directed by Steven Spielberg, opened with $47 million — a then-record. Spielberg remains a close collaborator and executive producer on Rebirth, helping chart the future of the dino saga.
As dinosaurs dominate one lane of the box office, Brad Pitt’s F1: The Movie is zooming ahead in another. Now in its second weekend, the Formula One drama has reached $202.4 million worldwide, including $88.5 million domestically. On Thursday alone, the film added $6.1 million to its U.S. haul.
As the summer blockbuster season heats up, Jurassic World Rebirth is proving that audiences still have an appetite for thrilling, big-screen spectacles — even when the reviews are mixed. With strong global momentum and Spielberg’s vision steering the franchise forward, Rebirth may just mark the beginning of another billion-dollar Jurassic run.
