November 9, 2024: The 2025 Grammy nominations are in, and it’s official – Beyoncé is back to claim her throne! With a whopping 11 nominations, Queen Bey is leading the pack, bringing her career Grammy nod count to an unbelievable 99! It’s Beyoncé’s world, and we’re just living in it. Right behind her with seven nods each are Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar, Post Malone, and Charli XCX, whose album Brat marks her grand Grammys breakthrough.
Taylor Swift, who usually dominates the scene, has a solid showing with six nominations for her album The Tortured Poets Department, but it’s a quieter year by her usual standards.
She’s got some new rivals in town – fresh faces like Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan are making their Grammy debuts with six nominations each, turning heads and making waves.
For the highly-coveted Album of the Year category, the competition is fierce. Contenders include Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter, Taylor’s The Tortured Poets Department, Billie’s Hit Me Hard and Soft, Charli XCX’s Brat, and Chappell Roan’s The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess. Add in Andre 3000’s woodwind wonder New Blue Sun and Jacob Collier’s Djesse Vol. 4, and you’ve got a category packed with unique sounds and star power.

Over in Record of the Year, singles from these albums go head-to-head, with a few surprise entries like the Beatles’ “Now and Then” and Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” the latter fuelled by his much-publicised rivalry with Drake.
In the Best New Artist category, first-time nominees Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan, Shaboozey (with five nods!), and Doechii are bringing fresh energy to the scene. Jazz legend Chick Corea also makes an appearance posthumously, adding three nominations to his legacy and tying with Kanye West for fifth-most nominations ever – not a bad way to make history!
The only notable absence? Country star Zach Bryan, who opted out of Grammy consideration, saying he’s not comfortable with music as a “competition.”
He joins a list of past Grammy rebels like Drake, the Weeknd, and Frank Ocean who’ve also chosen not to play the awards game.
It’s going to be a nail-biter at the Grammys this year, with some fan-favorite veterans and hot new faces fighting for the spotlight!
