7 Biggest Bollywood Flops Of 2023

The year 2023 has witnessed mega film releases in the theatres after a tepid 2022. A total of 50 films including films from both Hollywood and Bollywood were released this year. It has been a great year for movies such ‘Jawan’, ‘Pathaan’, ‘Gadar 2’ and ‘Animal’ that became huge blockbusters. While, these films witnessed stupendous success at the box office, some big-budget movies with massive star casts also tanked at the box office. Prabhas’ Adipurush’, Salman Khan’s ‘Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan’, Akshay Kumar’s ‘Mission Raniganj’ were some mega flops of the year 2023.

1. ‘Adipurush’
Cost: Rs. 700 Crores (Approx.)
Box Office Earning: Rs. 450 Crores
The movie created so much buzz and hype before its release but was a huge disappointment. It is one of the biggest flops of 2023. Prabhas, Kriti Sanon starrer mythological drama, directed by Om Raut received criticism especially for its dialogue. It also starred Saif Ali Khan and Sunny Singh. 

2.‘Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan’ 
Cost: Rs. 132 Crore (approx.)
India Box Office Earning: Rs. 110 Crore
This year has not been that great for actor Salman Khan. ‘Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan’ failed at the box office as it could only earn Rs 110.53 crore throughout its run in the theatres. The movie also starred Pooja Hegde, Shehnaaz Gill, Venkatesh Daggubati, Palak Tiwari and Raghav Juyal among others. 

3.‘Selfiee’
Cost: Rs. 100 Crores (approx.)
Total Earring: Rs. 23.50 Crore Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi starrer ‘Selfiee’ was a huge failure as it earned only Rs 23 crore at the box office. The movie was the Hindi remake of the Malayalam film ‘Driving Licence’.

4.‘Mission Raniganj’
Cost: Rs. 55 Crores
Total Earnings: Rs. 45 Crores

‘Mission Raniganj’ starring Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra raked in only Rs 45 crore despite positive reviews. The rescue drama was based on the Raniganj Coalfields collapse of 1989 in West Bengal. Akshay played Jaswant Singh Gill, the brave engineer from IIT Dhanbad who rescued 65 trapped miners at the Raniganj Coalfields in 1989.

5.‘Shehzada’
Cost: 65 Crores (approx.)
Total Earnings Rs. 47.43 Crore
‘Shehzada’, the Hindi remake of the Telugu blockbuster, ‘Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo’ starring Allu Arjun tanked at the box office. The Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon starrer minted Rs 47.43 crore worldwide despite so much hype and promotions.

6.’Ganapath: A Hero is Born’
Cost: Rs. 200 Crores (approx)
Total Box Office Earnings: Rs. 35.13 Crore
Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon starrer ‘Ganapath: A Hero is Born’ is yet another flop of 2023. The action drama that was made on a huge budget pocketed Rs 35.13 at the box office. 

7.‘Bholaa’
Cost: Rs. 100 Crore (approx.)
Box Office Earnings In India: Rs. 82.04 Crore
Ajay Devgn starrer ‘Bholaa’ got mixed reviews and it has grossed Rs 82 crore on the Box Office in India.
