A Royal Fusion: Diljit Dosanjh’s Met Gala Necklace Crafted With 2,500 Gems, Inspired By Indian Heritage And Humility

May 07, 2025: In a dazzling tribute to Indian royalty and contemporary grace, Diljit Dosanjh’s iconic necklace at the Met Gala 2025 was the result of nearly four months of meticulous craftsmanship by Jaipur-based Golecha Jewels. The multi-layered creation, adorned with over 2,500 diamonds and emeralds, featured a striking emerald centrepiece, turning heads on one of the world’s most watched red carpets.

Crafted with regal precision, the necklace wasn’t just a display of opulence but a symbolic blend of history, nature, and personality. “You take inspiration from nature, things and people. This represents royalty and history—we made it according to that,” said Manav Golecha, owner of Golecha Jewels. He revealed that the design was based on archival images of a legendary Indian maharaja, noted for being the first Indian king to commission jewellery from a foreign designer.

Yet, the design wasn’t solely about grandeur. It was also a heartfelt reflection of Diljit Dosanjh’s calm, composed, and humble nature, according to Golecha. This unique fusion of traditional Indian royal aesthetics with Diljit’s grounded persona made the necklace not just a piece of jewellery, but a powerful narrative of culture, character, and craftsmanship.

Dosanjh’s appearance at the Met Gala, wearing a turban, traditional Punjabi attire, and the statement necklace, made history—earning global praise for representing Sikh identity and Punjabi pride on an international platform.
