Aamir Khan Celebrates Republic Day At Statue of Unity In Gujarat

January 26, 2025: Actor Aamir Khan joined the Republic Day celebrations at the Statue of Unity in Kevadia, Gujarat, and expressed his admiration for the monumental structure dedicated to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, one of India’s foremost leaders. The Statue of Unity, standing at 182 meters, is the tallest statue in the world and honors Patel’s legacy as a key figure in India’s independence and unity.

Aamir Khan described his visit to the statue as a breathtaking experience and praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for celebrating Sardar Patel’s contribution in such a grand manner. “The first image of the Statue of Unity itself was breathtaking. It is such a beautiful place,” Khan said, reflecting on the importance of the monument.

The actor also shared his personal connection to the occasion, mentioning that his great grand uncle, Maulana Azad, worked closely with Sardar Patel, Mahatma Gandhi, and others in the freedom struggle. “For me, this is a very special day,” Khan added. His thoughts were filled with admiration for the deep conversations and struggles Patel, Azad, and Gandhi must have shared during their journey.

Khan highlighted the significance of the Statue of Unity as a symbol not only of India’s historical legacy but also of its modern identity. “This is an incredible modern structure created for us,” he said, acknowledging its importance to the people of India. Khan also expressed a desire to visit the site with his children, Ira, Junaid, and Azad, so they could experience its beauty firsthand.

The Statue of Unity, which was inaugurated in 2018, stands as a tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s pivotal role in India’s independence and political integration. Facing the Sardar Sarovar Dam, it is a monumental landmark that reflects India’s growth and unity.

On Republic Day, Aamir Khan’s visit was a part of the larger celebrations marking India’s 76th Republic Day. Prime Minister Modi reflected on India’s democratic journey and the nation’s commitment to the Constitution, while President Droupadi Murmu unfurled the national flag at Kartavya Path. The celebrations also highlighted 75 years since the enactment of the Indian Constitution, emphasizing “Jan Bhagidari” (people’s participation) in the country’s democratic journey.
