Director Kiran Rao expressed her gratitude for the film’s recognition and for the opportunity to reach a global audience. She acknowledged the challenge ahead, stating, “The journey to the Oscars is not going to be easy, but we will give it our all.” Kiran highlighted the film’s focus on women’s issues, expectations, and aspirations, which makes its selection even more meaningful. She noted that the inclusion of new faces and talents in the cast was appreciated, adding that it took the team 4-5 years to bring the film to life.
Kiran also shared Aamir’s reaction to the news, revealing that he was “extremely happy” and congratulated the entire team. On Instagram, she penned a lengthy note, expressing her honor and delight at the film being chosen for the Academy Awards.
