Aamir Khan launches ‘Papa Kehte Hain 2.0’ from RajKummar Rao’s ‘Srikanth’

Bollywood veteran Aamir Khan unveiled a modern rendition of the timeless classic ‘Papa Kehte Hain’ from the 1988 film ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak’, marking his debut as a lead actor. The revamped version, titled ‘Papa Kehte Hain 2.0’, is featured in the upcoming film ‘Srikanth’, starring RajKummar Rao. Accompanying the launch was renowned playback singer Udit Narayan, the original voice behind the iconic song.

In ‘Srikanth’, RajKummar Rao brings to life the inspiring journey of Srikanth Bolla, an Indian entrepreneur who established Bollant Industries, an enterprise employing unskilled and differently-abled individuals. Born visually impaired in 1992 near Hyderabad, Srikanth’s remarkable story serves as the focal point of the film, portraying his triumph over adversity.

Speaking exclusively to ANI, RajKummar Rao shared insights into the challenges of portraying a visually impaired character on screen and his motivations for taking on the role. He expressed admiration for Srikanth Bolla’s resilience, highlighting his journey from humble beginnings to the creation of a million-dollar company. Rao acknowledged the complexity of the role and the depth it added to his repertoire as an actor.

Emphasizing the significance of thorough preparation, Rao detailed his immersive approach to understanding the perspective of visually impaired individuals. Spending extensive time in blind schools and engaging with real-life visually impaired individuals, including Srikanth himself, provided invaluable insights into their experiences and perceptions. By delving into Srikanth’s life, Rao aimed to authentically portray his worldview and decision-making process on screen.

Produced by T-Series and Chalk N Cheese Films Production LLP, ‘Srikanth’ is helmed by director Tushar Hiranandani, with the screenplay crafted by Jagdeep Sidhu and Sumit Purohit. Scheduled for a theatrical release on May 10, 2024, the film promises to offer audiences a compelling narrative inspired by the resilience and determination of an extraordinary individual
