In a new statement, Aamir Khan Productions has denied all rumors that the actor was negotiating for screens for the Rajinikanth-starrer, clarifying that his cameo is a gesture of friendship amid the ‘War 2’ clash.
August 7, 2025: Actor-producer Aamir Khan team has officially put an end to rumors suggesting his involvement in the Hindi distribution of the upcoming Rajinikanth-starrer, Coolie. A spokesperson for Aamir Khan Productions (AKP) released a statement clarifying that neither Aamir nor anyone from his team has been involved in the film’s distribution or in making any calls to exhibitors or distributors.

The clarification comes after a report from Bollywood Hungama claimed that Aamir had “unexpectedly” intervened, allegedly calling PVR Inox to negotiate premium screens for Coolie, which is set to clash with Ayan Mukerji’s War 2 on August 14.
The statement from AKP emphasized that Aamir Khan’s extended cameo in Coolie is “purely a gesture of his bond with director Lokesh Kanagaraj and Rajinikanth.” The spokesperson also added that Aamir is currently focused on the success of his recently released film Sitaare Zameen Par.
The distribution rights for the North Indian market for Coolie, which will be released in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil, have already been announced to be handled by Pen Marudhar and Pen Studios.
