The wait is over! The highly anticipated film ‘Maharaj,’ marking the acting debut of Aamir Khan’s son Junaid Khan, is set to release on June 14 exclusively on Netflix.
Director Siddharth P Malhotra took to Instagram to reveal the first look poster, captioning it, “The fight for the truth between a powerful man and a fearless journalist. Based on true events – Maharaj is releasing on 14 June, only on Netflix! My next film as a director please give it all the love.”
The poster showcases Junaid Khan and Jaideep Ahlawat in prominent roles. Set in 1862, ‘Maharaj’ follows the story of Karsandas Mulji, a journalist and social reformer, who courageously stood up for women’s rights and social justice. The film, bankrolled by Aditya Chopra under the YRF Entertainment banner, also stars Sharvari and Shalini Pandey.
‘Maharaj’ brings to life the historical figure of Karsandas Mulji, who, amidst the backdrop of the Sepoy Mutiny of 1857 and the early years of Rabindranath Tagore, fought a landmark legal battle. The film aims to shed light on this true story more than 160 years later.
Junaid Khan, already busy with multiple projects, recently completed a 58-day shoot for his second film and has now begun work on his third. His second project, featuring Sai Pallavi, remains under wraps.
