Aamir Misses Out on ₹125 Cr OTT Deal for Sitaare Zameen Par? Could Have Been 3rd Biggest Bollywood Streaming Contract

Aamir Khan reportedly turned down a ₹125 crore streaming offer for Sitaare Zameen Par, a deal that could’ve surpassed Jawan and Animal as the third biggest OTT acquisition in Bollywood history.

June 14, 2025: With his highly anticipated film Sitaare Zameen Par slated for theatrical release on June 20, 2025, Aamir Khan is already making headlines — not just for the film’s box office prospects but for a staggering OTT deal he is said to have rejected.

According to insider reports, Aamir Khan was offered ₹125 crore for the streaming rights of Sitaare Zameen Par by a leading OTT platform. This deal, if accepted, would have made it Bollywood’s third-biggest OTT acquisition ever, behind only Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love and War/Singham Again.

The rejected offer was reportedly 4.1% higher than the ₹120 crore deals Netflix paid for Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan and Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal. This puts into perspective the magnitude of what Aamir turned down — a rare opportunity to break into the OTT top three alongside blockbusters like Dunki (₹155 crore).

Pay-Per-View Instead of Streaming Giants?

While it’s still unclear which platform made the ₹125 crore offer, sources suggest that Aamir Khan is exploring an alternative digital strategy — possibly a pay-per-view release model via YouTube, a bold departure from the industry norm of licensing to Netflix, Prime Video, or JioCinema.

  • Dunki – ₹155 crore
  • Love and War / Singham Again – ₹130 crore each
  • Jawan – ₹120 crore

  • Sikandar – ₹85 crore

Had Aamir accepted the offer, Sitaare Zameen Par would have ranked just below Dunki and Love and War, ahead of both Jawan and Pathaan.
