Abhishek Bachchan Reveals the Moment He First Met Aishwarya Rai And Why She Couldn’t Understand Him!

July 5, 2025: Actors Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan have long been one of Bollywood’s most admired yet private couples. In a rare candid moment during an interview with Nayandeep Rakshit, Abhishek opened up about their first meeting and spoke fondly of Aishwarya’s role as a mother.

A Chance Encounter in Switzerland

Abhishek shared that he first saw Aishwarya in person during a location recce in Switzerland for his father Amitabh Bachchan’s film Mrityudaata. Coincidentally, his friend Bobby Deol was filming Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya with Aishwarya nearby.

“We were at Zanin train station near Shtar when I saw her on set. Of course, we had all seen her during her Miss World days, but this was our first real-life encounter,” he recalled. That same evening, Bobby invited him for dinner at their hotel, where he and Aishwarya finally spoke for the first time. “She later told me she couldn’t understand a word I said because of my British boarding school accent,” he laughed.

A Tribute to Aishwarya’s Parenting

Abhishek didn’t shy away from praising Aishwarya’s dedication as a mother to their daughter, Aaradhya Bachchan. He credited her entirely for Aaradhya’s upbringing, especially given the public attention the family constantly receives.

“I get to go out and make my movies, and Aishwarya does the heavy lifting with Aaradhya. She’s amazing and selfless. Mothers are wired differently — they always put their child first. That’s why even today, our go-to person in life is always our mum,” he said.

Their Relationship Timeline

The couple’s romance blossomed on film sets like Dhai Akshar Prem Ke, Kuch Naa Kaho, and especially Guru, where their on-screen chemistry turned into real-life love. They got engaged in January 2007 and were married in a grand ceremony on April 20 the same year. Their daughter Aaradhya was born in 2011.

Despite recent separation rumours, the couple has remained silent on the matter and instead appeared together publicly, subtly quashing speculation with their united presence at events.
