Abhishek’s ‘I Want to Talk’ Struggles at Box Office Amid Divorce Rumours with Aishwarya

November 30, 2024: Amid swirling divorce rumours involving Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan’s latest film, I Want to Talk, directed by Shoojit Sircar, has been struggling to find its footing at the box office. Despite receiving rave reviews for Abhishek’s performance, the film’s financial performance paints a grim picture, with its total collection still shy of the Rs 2-crore mark after a week of release.

Released on November 22, 2024, I Want to Talk started with a disappointing opening day collection of Rs 25 lakh. Over the next few days, it saw modest improvements but failed to sustain momentum. The week ended with total earnings of just Rs 1.94 crore, sparking concerns about the film’s commercial viability.

I Want to Talk Box Office Day-Wise Collection:

  • Day 1: Rs 0.25 crore
  • Day 2: Rs 0.55 crore
  • Day 3: Rs 0.53 crore
  • Day 4: Rs 0.17 crore
  • Day 5: Rs 0.4 crore
  • Day 6: Rs 0.14 crore
  • Day 7: Rs 0.1 crore
    Total: Rs 1.94 crore

Abhishek Addresses Divorce Rumours:

While promoting I Want to Talk, Abhishek Bachchan candidly addressed the negative rumours about his personal life. Speaking to ETimes, the actor shared his approach to staying positive amidst speculation about his marriage to Aishwarya Rai.

Abhishek said, “There is a word in Hindi, dhridhta (perseverance). Somewhere, who you are as a person shouldn’t change. Your fundamentals shouldn’t change. It’s important to adapt and evolve, but your core values should remain intact. When negativity surrounds you, focus on the positives. Negativity can be overwhelming, but finding that ray of hope is key.”

He added, “When you see a silver lining or a ray of sunshine, hold onto it. That will give you the inspiration to carry on. It’s very easy to get consumed by darkness and negativity, but no matter how tough the obstacle is, find the ray of hope. As a man, you need to stand firm. If you’re swayed by every rumour or opinion, it says you’re not a solid person.”

Upcoming Projects:

Despite the underwhelming box office response, Abhishek Bachchan remains optimistic about his professional journey. He is set to appear next in Housefull 5, co-starring Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, and Kriti Sanon, among others. Directed by Tarun Mansukhani, the film is in its final stages of production and is slated for release in June 2025.
