‘Abir Gulal’ Star Fawad Khan Calls India’s Operation Sindoor ‘Shameful’

In the early hours of May 7, 2025, India launched Operation Sindoor, a high-precision military strike targeting nine terror strongholds across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Amid the military operation, Pakistani actor Fawad Khan has ignited a firestorm of online backlash after condemning the strike. In an Instagram post, Fawad referred to the operation as a “shameful attack” on Pakistan, offering condolences to the families of those affected. “My deepest condolences to the families of those injured and killed in this shameful attack. I pray for the souls of the deceased and strength for their loved ones in the days to come,” he wrote.

Fawad continued, calling for peace and an end to inflammatory rhetoric: “A respectful request to all: stop stoking the flames with rabble-rousing words. It is not worth the lives of innocent people. May better sense prevail. InshaAllah. Pakistan Zindabad!” Despite India reportedly blocking his Instagram account, screenshots of the now-deleted post have gone viral online.

Fawad’s comments have sparked fierce debate, with many social media users criticizing his stance. He is not the only Pakistani celebrity to voice his disapproval of India’s military operation. Hania Aamir, Mahira Khan, and Mawra Hocane have also expressed their condemnation, calling the strikes an “attack on Pakistan.”
