
Acquitted in Court—Judged by Viewers? Karen Read’s Next Chapter Begins
June 29, 2025: Karen Read, recently acquitted in the high-profile murder trial of Boston police officer John O’Keefe, is now teaming up with her lead defense attorney, Alan Jackson, and LBI Entertainment for a scripted adaptation of the case, according to Variety.
The upcoming series promises to explore untold aspects of the controversial 2022 case that captivated the nation. While Read was found not guilty of second-degree murder, she was convicted of drunk driving. The dramatic legal battle has already inspired multiple documentaries, including A Body in the Snow and a Netflix three-part docuseries.

LBI Production Head Julie Yorn emphasized the deeper themes of the story:“This isn’t just a legal thriller. It’s about what happens when a single voice refuses to be silenced. Karen’s case reflects the complicated moment in time in which we live.”
In addition to the series, a book is also in development, co-authored by Read and Jackson, which will dive further into the lesser-known details of the case.
