
Actor Dhanush Casts Vote in Chennai Amid Lok Sabha Elections
Actor Dhanush joined the chorus of voters exercising their democratic right as he cast his ballot at a polling booth in Alwarpet, Chennai, amidst the ongoing Lok Sabha elections on Friday. Sporting a white shirt and black pants, the ‘Raanjhanaa’ star made his way to the polling booth in central Chennai.
The first phase of the Lok Sabha elections 2024 commenced today at 7:00 am, covering all 39 parliamentary seats in Tamil Nadu alongside 102 parliamentary constituencies spread across 21 states and Union Territories. The voting window will close at 6 pm.
Notable personalities including superstars Rajinikanth, Ajith Kumar, and Kamal Haasan have also exercised their franchise in Chennai. Displaying their inked fingers, these actors greeted fans and paparazzi, capturing the moment for photographers and videographers.
In this high-stakes electoral battle, Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeks a third consecutive term, while the opposition coalition, INDIA, aims to challenge the BJP’s dominance. PM Modi, acknowledging the elections’ significance, urged citizens nationwide to participate actively, emphasizing the pivotal role of every vote in shaping the nation’s future.
In the previous 2019 general elections, the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance secured a resounding victory in Tamil Nadu, clinching 38 out of 39 seats. The electoral process will continue with subsequent phases scheduled on April 26, May 7, May 13, May 20, May 25, and June 1, leading up to the vote counting on June 4.
