Crime Update: Actor Mushtaq Khan Kidnapped and Tortured for 12 Hours on Delhi-Meerut Highway; Escapes

December 11, 2024: Actor Mushtaq Khan, known for his roles in films like Welcome and the upcoming Stree 2, recently endured a terrifying ordeal when he was kidnapped from the Delhi-Meerut highway under the guise of attending an award ceremony. The incident occurred on November 20, when the actor was lured with a promise of an award show appearance in Meerut.

According to his business partner Shivam Yadav, Mushtaq was flown to Delhi, with his flight tickets and advance payment for the event arranged in advance. Upon arrival, he was picked up by individuals posing as event organizers, only to be driven to a secluded area near Bijnor. For 12 hours, the actor was held hostage, tortured, and pressured for a ransom of ₹1 crore.

During the ordeal, the kidnappers managed to extort ₹2 lakh from Khan’s and his son’s bank accounts. However, Mushtaq Khan’s quick thinking led to his escape. Early in the morning, he heard the azaan (call to prayer) and realized a mosque was nearby. Using the moment to his advantage, he ran to the mosque and sought help from locals, who assisted him in contacting the police. The authorities ensured his safe return home.

Shivam Yadav recounted the aftermath of the incident: “Mushtaq sir and his family were deeply shaken. Despite the trauma, he remained determined to file an FIR. We gathered all the evidence, including the flight tickets, bank transactions, and CCTV footage from the airport. Mushtaq sir also identified the neighborhood and house where he was held. We are confident the police will apprehend the culprits soon.”

This case has drawn eerie parallels to a recent incident involving comedian Sunil Pal, who was similarly lured and abducted under the pretense of attending an event. These incidents have sparked concerns about a potential syndicate targeting public figures for extortion.

Yadav expressed his hope for better safeguards in the future: “It’s alarming that two celebrities have faced similar experiences in a short span. We hope this raises awareness and leads to stronger protections for everyone.”

Mushtaq Khan is now safe and recovering from the harrowing experience. He is expected to address the media soon to share his full account of the ordeal.
