Actor Nassar Expresses Gratitude To Tamil Nadu CM Stalin And Deputy CM For Renewing Film Industry Land Lease

February 21, 2025: Actor Nassar, who is the head of the South Indian Artistes’ Association (Nadigar Sangam), recently expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin and Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin for renewing the lease agreement for a crucial 90 acres of land allocated to the Tamil film industry in 2010.

In an interview with media, Nassar shared details about the land allocated by the late Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi back in 2010. The land was provided with the aim of fostering the growth of the film industry and benefiting workers, producers, and actors. However, the lease agreement had lapsed over the years due to several factors, including changes in government leadership and shifts in association leadership. As a result, the renewal process had been delayed.

Recognizing the importance of the land for the industry, Nassar and other industry representatives made a formal request to the current CM, MK Stalin, to renew the lease. Both the Chief Minister and Deputy CM Udhayanidhi Stalin took a keen interest in the matter, and after deliberations, they ensured that the land was returned to the film industry.

Nassar expressed immense gratitude for this decision, emphasizing that the renewed lease would greatly benefit around 35,000 to 40,000 workers in the Tamil film industry and their families, impacting nearly a lakh people. He highlighted that the land would be used for various developments, including the construction of studios, public spaces, and even schools.

On behalf of the entire Tamil film industry, Nassar thanked the CM and Deputy CM for their support in revitalizing the growth of the industry.

The representatives from several film organizations, including the Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI), Tamil Nadu Film Producers Council, Nadigar Sangam, and the Television Actors’ Association, met with Deputy CM Udhayanidhi Stalin to personally express their gratitude for the successful renewal.

Deputy CM Udhayanidhi Stalin further shared that the renewed lease agreement, under a new Government Order (G.O.), would allow associations to construct multi-story buildings on the land, which has an estimated market value of approximately Rs 150 crore. This move is set to provide ample space and opportunities for the growth of the Tamil film industry.
